Stall no. 43: (乌芭叶) Wu-Ba-Ye Hokkien Mee Stall - $3.00

Rating: 6.5 /10

This time round, the 5 of us ventured to West Coast Drive Ayer Rajah Food Centre to sample out the nice food there. We randomly ordered "Dumpling Noodle Dry", "Chicken Chop Western Food", "Fried Hokkien Mee", "Fried Kway Teow", "Fried Oyster" and "Fried Carrot Cake (Black)" to find out how each one fared.

Personally, I haven't got the chance to try the Dry Dumpling Noodle so no comments for that. As for the Chicken Chop, i managed to sample a bit and nah... i personally would give 5/10 for rating... the sauce was tasteless though the meat were quite tender and soft when chew. The aroma smell of Hokkien Mee with the chilli smell nice, but on the first taste... hmmm... so so lah. Next is the Fried Kway Teow, it good except that the kway teow haven't absorb the essence of the stock thus the taste wouldn't linger in your mouth after you have eaten it. The black fried carrot cake on the other hand was fantastic as every piece was quite uniform and the taste was just nice. Eventually, the fried oyster was different from what i had in other place as the 'egg' was fried till crispy although when i finished till the end, i felt it's kinda of greasy.... one of my colleague felt uncomfortable and nauseous too.

Overall, this place is not stuffy and the stall are well marked by very prominent stall sign to indicate the stall no. It is definitely worth coming to explore for cheap and good food during lunch time though some of the stall are not open until later in the evening.

Location: West Coast Drive - Ayer Rajah Food Centre (Opp Tanglin Secondary School and beside Blk 504)

Carpark: Damn pack during lunch hours; heavy traffic

Cleanliness: OK (Surrounding quite well-kept)
